# Acceleration Deceleration Oscillator (ACCDEOSC)

> StratCraft indicator page for the Acceleration/Deceleration Oscillator.

**Route**: `/indicators/accdeosc/`

## What It Does

ACCDEOSC measures the change in the momentum of price acceleration. It is used to detect when the speed of a trend is increasing or fading.

## Formula

`Median Price = (High + Low) / 2`

`AO = SMA(Median Price, 5) - SMA(Median Price, 34)`

`ACCDEOSC = AO - SMA(AO, 5)` (default `period = 5`; the `movav` parameter selects the final average).

## Worked Example

For five illustrative AO values `1, 2, 2, 1, 2`, `SMA(AO, 5) = 1.6`. On the fifth bar, `ACCDEOSC = 2 - 1.6 = 0.4`. These AO values are supplied for arithmetic only; a full AO needs at least 34 median-price bars.
## Parameters

- `period` - default `5`
- `movav` - default `SMA`

## Backtrader API

```python
import backtrader as bt
accdeosc = bt.indicators.AccDeOsc(data, period=5)
```

## Common Usage

- Use ACCDEOSC as a momentum change detector.
- Combine it with trend filters to avoid noise.
- Watch for sign changes or threshold breaks.

## Practical Pattern

Acceleration fading after a strong move can warn that the current trend is losing strength.
